A semi-automatic root tool for a range of Sharp Android phones:

Please see Readme.txt for supported build versions.

UPDATE:

The previously available version 5.0 (23.11.2013) has been replaced with version 6.1 (6.01.2014). See Readme.txt for creators and contributors.

If, for some reason, you need version 5.0, please contact me and I will send you a direct link to download it.

Please do not distribute this English version of the rootkit on other websites. It - and newer versions - will always be available here for free.

I don't know. The Readme says it is not possible. But maybe when the rootkit was created, the Japanese guys didn't have a 2.00.02 build to test it. You can test it yourself and you will see if it works.

Just use the rootkit. It is semi-automatic. If your build version is supported, it will work.

Thanks Cheeseus Do it means i can use other carriers SIM after root?

On 17.04.2014 13:14:13 cheeseus replied:
No, rooting is different from SIM unlocking. Newer SoftBank phones cannot be unlocked. However, I read on a Japanese blog that Chinese users can unlock the 203SH but they are keeping the method a secret.

Anyone know where I can get the device drivers. I installed from sharp, but still this application doesn't recognize my phone. I can even access the file system of the phone through my computer. I have a sharp 203sh build number S0022.

Hi there, I have rooted my Sharp SH-08E and install ifont to change Font, after then my device restart and it just display the NTT docomo screen any nothing else. What should I do now?

On 01.07.2014 10:43:25 cheeseus replied:
To add a new font to a Docomo phone no root is required. I have written a special aritcle here. IFONT is not compatible with Sharp. What you have done is dangerous and you may have permanently bricked your phone. Try erasing all IFONT files using ADB. Then try the recovery option in this rootkit. If nothing works, your only hope is to send the phone to Japan and have it fixed by Docomo. Sorry.

Hello Cheeseus! Sharp SH-10D 01.00.01 I tried to use this utility and now have got bootloop. there's no backups.. I can reach adb shell su command and freeze device with "stop zygote" command, "AQUOS phone" logo is permanent here. Can I recover in such case?

Hi Shash,
Sorry to hear. Although my girlfriend has the SH-10D (higher build than yours), I haven't tried to root it, so I am afraid I can't help you. Did you try the unroot procedure?
Good luck!

Strange.. click to "Reply" moves me to top of screen. Yes, I tried a lot of "4. Unroot.." and "". Recover from boot loop in case of failed VpnFaker installation" and so on Nothing could help. The only way was go to SafeMode (your hint VolumeDown+Power key), then Settings-> Backup&Reset -> Reset All After that I've got a brand new phone ) I'll try once again with backups later. About build 01.00.01 - is it really no way to upgrade to android 4.1 ?

So did you manage to exit the boot loop? If you did, great news... Otherwise, I've really no idea. Sharp phones can be a nightmare - for all their greatness otherwise.
No, there is no way to upgrade to 4.1 without first installing the minor updates. A friend from Tokyo might be willing to help you for a small fee. Email me if interested and if you've recovered from the boot loop.

Yes, I left bootloop via "Reset All", and maybe it's not so bad, i have clear phone again )) As I unerstood, points 4-Unroot and 5-Recover didn't help, cause there was no backup you reccomend..

Hi Jarvis,
I don't know. But I think not because the rootkit was developed long after all SH-10Ds in Japan had been upgraded to 4.1 (and has only been tested on higher build versions), so I wouldn't recommend trying to root it before you upgrade.

Why did you download the same package THREE times? There is a DAILY limit. 24 hours later you will be able to download again. But be careful to only download once!
Why do you think is there a limit? I do all this to help you people for free but I pay for it from my own pocket.
There cannot be alternative links - didn't you read the Terms & Conditions? My own work (my translations) may only be available via my own website, otherwise it is stealing. Hope I made it clear.

Hey cheeseus , I was thinking about rooting my 203sh on build s0024 in order to use catlog so I can pull out APN info for another sim-free phone. I really dont know who to ask whether this would work, do you think root permits me to find the information? many thanks for this guide

Hi cswarrior,
Unfortunately, I cannot say for sure but you should be. However, I believe that the SoftBank APNs can be easily found if you search in Japanese forums. Also, you can try asking a question in HowardForums (follow the "forum" link in the menu here), there are users from Japan there who could help. Mind you, AFAIK, both SoftBank and Docomo record the IMEIs of phones that are "allowed" to use data, so inputting the APN info in a foreign phone might not work.

Hi pechenkaTv,
Sorry to hear. I can't offer any advice other than what the rootkit already contains. It has an option to try and recover from bootloop - but nothing is guaranteed.
Good luck!
