Docomo has officially announced their Winter 2013/2014 collection too, and in it are four Sharp phones, including a flip keitai, and a Junior phone, whereas SoftBank only had two and AU had just one.
Behold the Aquos Phone Zeta SH-01F, the 5-inch flagship wielding the impressive Full HD resolution (440 ppi) and IGZO technology screen – with a 3000 mAh battery onboard, the promo video promises THREE DAYS of single-charge use, due to further improvement in colour-filtering and power-saving integrated circuit. The display supports the HSV colour space and can auto adjust image quality depending on the time of the day, type of lightning (incandescent or fluorescent), the level of ambient brightness.
This phone boasts the same type of camera we find on Softbank's top model, the Aquos Phone Xx 302SH, and AU's flagship, the Aquos Phone Serie SHL23: a 16.3 megapixel shooter featuring the BrightEye + NightCatch technology and the world's best shutter sensitivity found on a phone, f/1.9. The camera also features Sharp's new multi-focal capture capable of producing an image with several focus points – in both close and distant view – for even better images. There is also support for HDR shooting, high-speed shutter and 16x digital zoom. The phone's front-facing camera is 2.1 megapixel.
The Aquos Phone Zeta SH-01F is powered by the now ubiquitous 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (Qualcomm MSM8974) processor found on all of Sharp's (and not only) new releases. The RAM is 2 GB and the built-in storage is 16 GB, microSDXC cards supported.
The new "Grip Magic" feature places two sensors on both sides of the phone to only power the display (without sound) or vice-versa, as well as change screen rotation settings.
Also supported is "Air Operation" where we can interact with the phone without touching it, only making "air" gestures.
An additional option allows the display to be powered on by sliding a finger on the display. And the "Bright Keep" feature will not allow the display to turn off as long as some interaction is detected, e.g. when reading something.
Also featured is the Quick Launcher found on SoftBank's 302SH and 303SH, as well as the latest version of Feel UX with more customisation options.
The Aquos Phone Zeta SH-01F brings Full Seg digital television with full HD playback & recording, optional external antenna connection, and NOTTV.
This smartphone also boasts the Feel Musician functionality offering an amazing listening experience with DTS sound and the ability to automatically launch the music player when headphones are plugged in, resuming playback from where you left off last time.
Connectivity-wise, the Zeta SH-01F comes with quad-band 4G LTE support which promises download speeds of up to 150 mbps, as well as Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac support. Other standard features include water-proofing (IPX5/7), NFC/Felica, Bluetooth 4.0, wireless printing, USB host function for mouse/keyboard and even the ability to remotely control your Cocorobo robot vacuum cleaner, if you have one.
Supported frequencies include:
LTE: 800, 1500, 1700, 2100 Mhz
3G: 800, 850, 2100 MHz
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz
The added Miracast support makes it possible to establish high quality connection between the smartphone and your smart TV to transfer video/audio/images in both directions.
Also available is G-Shock connection to link the Zeta SH-01F to your Casio G-Shock phone so that it can display basic information about incoming calls and email.
It is offered in white, navy and red.
The Aquos Phone Zeta SH-01F ships with Android 4.2. In October 2014, an upgrade to Android 4.4 was released.
This phone measures 141 mm × 70 mm × 8.9 mm and weighs 139 grams. The battery is non-removable.
