The Aquos Phone EX SH-02F is to hit the shelves in Docomo stores on 14th February 2014, and expectedly, will be available in more gentle colours - magenta and white.

The SH-02F will have a 4.5 inch screen using Sharp's latest developments in the IGZO LCD tech which have managed a further increase in battery life from the first IZGO phone, the SH-02E. The display boasts a pixel density of 487 ppi, which is the world's highest on an actual smartphone (LG's 538 ppi is not yet in use).

Long battery life is further ensured by the Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) 2.2 GHz quad-core processor and a 2120 mAh battery capacity. The RAM is 2 GB and the ROM is 16 GB, expandable up to 64 GB using microSDXC cards.

The camera on the Aquos Phone EX SH-02F is a 13.1 megapixel shooter flaunting the as yet unmatched focal ratio (relative aperture) of f/1.9, which in combination with the new NightCatch low-light mode capturing functionality promises amazing results. Also featured are macro-focus for bright close-up shots, high-speed shutter, and high-speed auto-focus, 16x digital zoom, HDR photography and video, plus a simpler camera UI. However, shake reduction is only available for still images. The front-facing camera has the humble 1.2 megapixels.

Sound quality is ensured by a DTS processing engine found on bluray players. The built-in music player will auto-start and resume the last played track as soon as you plug in your headphones.

The SH-02F features what in later models became known as Grip Magic: two sensors built into the sides of the phone. While holding the phone, these sensors will not let the screen turn off, the function known as Bright Keep. The phone will also turn off if you slide you finger upwards on the display (Sweep On) and turn off if you shake the phone (Shake Off).

Supported connectivity modes include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, USB host, Miracast, NFC/FeliCa. LTE, 3G, and GSM frequencies are supported:
LTE: 2 GHz, 1.7 GHz, 1.5 GHz, 800 MHz.
3G: 2100, 850 MHz
GSM: 1900, 1800, 900, 850 MHz.

The Aquos Phone EX SH-02F has a bottom located LED illumination whose light pattern can be customised for individual callers/emails.

The phone is, naturally, waterproof (IPX5/IPX7), measures 128mm × 63mm × 9.8mm, and weighs 122 grams.

The Aquos Phone EX SH-02F is released in magenta and white.
