Due in the spring of 2015 is AU & Sharp's Aquos Serie SHV31 smartphone. The pre-installed OS is Android 4.4 KitKat.
The Aquos Serie SHV31 has a 4.5-inch Full HD (487 ppi) display using the IGZO LCD technology for low power consumption, coupled with the minimal bezel design of the EDGEST family.
The SHV31 relies on a quad-core MSM8974AB processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in storage, expandable up to 128 GB using microSDXC cards.
The main camera is a 13.1 megapixel CMOS shooter having features like Real-time HDR, NightCatch II (f/1.9) for taking quality photos in dark environments, and a LED flash.
The front camera is just 1.2 megapixels. Sorry selfie-maniacs.
Supported radio frequencies include:
FDD-LTE: 2100(B1)/1800(B3)/800(B26)/700(B17) MHz
WiMAX 2+(TD-LTE): 2500(B41) MHz
W-CDMA: 2100(I)/850(V) MHz
GSM: 1900/1800/900/850 MHz
Because the SHV31 was released a few months before the introduction of mandatory SIM-lock release (if requested), it cannot be used on other carriers. There may exist unofficial unlocking methods but none that I am aware of.
A Nano IC Card 04 is required to use this device and the VoLTE function.
The Aquos Serie SHV31 comes with a 2,120 mAh battery which should be OK for a couple of days on a single charge, considering it has the IGZO LCD. AU's website says it should be able to last up to 540 hours (over three weeks!) in standby mode.
The device weighs just 118 grams and measures 63 × 124 × 9.9 mm. It is available in cyan, magenta, white or black.
