The Aquos Pad SH-05G is Sharp's newest tablet for Docomo. It comes with a 7-inch screen, having a WUXGA resolution (1200 x 1920 pixels), utilising the IGZO technology. An advancement from the previous model, the SH-08E, is the PureLED backlighting, which ensures a more natural color representation.
Since the tablet is also of the EDGEST series having a very narrow frame design, the tablet's weight has been reduced to 210 grams. Another added benefit is the HEXA GRIP SHAPE design that Sharp introduced in the SH-01G phone, hexagonal corners that prevent the device from slipping out of your hand.
The SH-05G is powered by a Snapdragon 810 (MSM8994) octa-core processor having four 2-GHz cores and four 1.5-GHz cores. The amount of operating memory is still 2 GB, which should be sufficient for all tasks. The installed storage space is 32 GB, naturally expandable using microSDXC cards to up tp 128 GB.
The main camera is an 8-megapixel shooter, and the secondary is 2 MP, both back-illuminated CMOS.
The new Snapdragon processor affords advanced LTE connectivity of up to 225 mbps download and 50 mbps upload, standard LTE (150/50 mbps), and Docomo's FOMA data service (14/7.5 mbps). All Wi-Fi standards are supported, e.g. IEEE 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, as well as Bluetooth 4.1, but the infrared module is now discarded. The SH-05G supports Wi-Fi tethering for up to 10 devices, Bluetooth tethering for up to 5 devices, and USB tethering.
Other standard features include: OneSeg/FullSeg, Mobile Wallet, NOTTV< Area Mail, and worldwide roaming.
The Aquos Pad SH-05G is powered by a 3,900 mAh battery which, in conjunction with the IGZO idling-stop display technology should ensure up to three days work with a single charge.
The radio frequencies the SH-05G supports are as follows:
LTE: 800 MHz (Band 19), 1.5 GHz (Band 21), 1.7 GHz (Band 3), 2.0 Ghz (Band 1).
3G: 800 MHz, 2.0 GHz
The Aquos tablet measures 174mm × 105mm × 8.0mm. It is only available in black.
The installed OS version is Android 5.0 (Lollipop).
