Released in late July 2016, the Y!Mobile (owned by Softbank) 507SH is a rebranding of the Aquos U SHV35 released last month for AU by KDDI.

The main difference, however, is that the 507SH is much less customised than any other Sharp or carrier-subsidised phone in Japan. It is in fact an Android One device centred around Google services - with the promise never heard before for Sharp-made phones to receive monthly security updates for a period of "at least 18 months". So much so that it doesn't even feature Sharp's Feel UX but has the Google Now launcher. Kind of reminds of the Nexus series, only with better hardware ;)

The 507SH comes with a 5-inch IGZO HD (1280 x 720px) display with the S-PureLED backlight. In conjunction with the 3,010 mAh battery, it should easily last three or more days on a single charge. It is built using the 2.5D technology and has a chemically tempered Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4.

The camera uses the previous-generation 13.1-megapixel CMOS sensor only enhanced with the new software found on the Summer 2016 collection flagships. It is not, however, the GR-certified sensor, although supposed to be faring pretty well in low-light conditions, also furnished with the Capture Later feature, which allows recording a short video clip (7.5 frames/sec in 4K2K resolution) that can later be decomposed into frames and the desired best shot captured as a photo.

The inner camera has a 5-MP wide-angle sensor (85 degrees). It also has the Skin Correction feature where the software will automatically recognise a human face, detect the spores, and "fix" them by smoothing the skin. The inner camera also has the Hand Mirror mode where it will work at 60 fps to act as an actual mirror.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor having four 1.5 GHz cores and four 1.2 GHz cores. It has 2 GB of RAM, which should be enough if not hogged by the slackware Softbank and Docomo usually load their phones with. The amount of onboard storage space is just 16 GB but can be expanded using microSDXC cards of up to 200 GB.

The device supports VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n standards, Bluetooth 4.2, but no infrared. It works on LTE and 3G frequencies only:
[4G] 900 MHz · 1.7 GHz · 2.1 GHz · 2.5 GHz
[3G] 900 MHz · 2.1 GHz

The Y!Mobile 507SH is waterproof (IPX5 / IPX8) and dustproof (IP5X). It supports OneSeg digital TV (but not FullSeg), quick charge (using a compatible charger), NFC, and Google backup.

Originally released with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the 507SH received the Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade on 28 October 2016. It received the upgrade to 7.1 in the end of January 2017. On 8 March 2018, the phone received an upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo.

It measures 142 × 71 × 8.8 mm, weighs 135 grams, and is offered in smoky blue, white, and black.
