FIH Mobile Limited, a subsidiary of Foxconn, have announced a number of low-end devices wearing the Sharp brand – to shame! – for the Asian market (China, Vietnam, India, etc.) in early February 2018. While some of these devices are nothing but rebranded versions of InFocus smartphones that are already selling on these markets, others such as the Sharp R1S are new... well, kind of, because I wouldn't be able to tell one from the other even if my life depended on this.

One such glorious addition to the shameful exploit of the Sharp brand is something called Sharp R1S (FS8028). This smartphone features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 px (HD) and a 2.5D glass, made by God knows who but certainly not Sharp.

The Sharp R1S is equipped with a dual rear camera comprising one 13-megapixel and one 5-megapixel sensor, both with aperture f/2.0, and with a 5-megapixel front camera with aperture f/2.4.

This abuse of the Sharp brand is powered by a MediaTek MT6750 processor having 8 cores, each with a maximum operating frequency of 1.5 GHz. The amount of RAM is 3 GB and the amount of on-board storage (ROM) is 32 GB.

This smartphone supports radio frequencies in the LTE (incl. VoLTE), 3G, and GSM bands. The phone supports dual-SIM card operation.

Supported are Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi b/g/n at 2.4 GHz. The Sharp R1S even has a fingerprint scanner and a microSD card slot.

The battery capacity is 5000 mAh. Read that again – five thousand mili-Amper-hours!

The Sharp R1S runs Android 7.0 Nougat.

This device appears to the upgraded version of the Sharp R1 (FS8014), which was launched in China last year. The few differences are:
