Sheduled for release in the spring of 2019, Docomo have announced their first flip keitai in a year and a half (the SH-02K came out at the end of November 2017).
Flip keitais are now traditionally low-spec and are not made to impress – their target market segment is those who can't or won't get used to large-screen smartphones.
The SH-02L has the standard 3.4-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 540 px and its main selling points are "easy-to-hear phone", "easy-to-see screen", and "easy-to-use keys".
It is also a sturdy phone – the SH-02L is waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof.
This Aquos Mobile is powered by the entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 that has four cores, each clocked at 1.1 GHz, has 1 gigabyte of RAM, and 8 gigabytes of onboard storage.
Although the battery capacity is quite small compared to those installed in smartphones, it should be able to last a few days on a single charge – now with intelligent charging to prolong battery life. The SH-02L comes bundled with a charging cradle.
LTE radio frequencies supported, it is capable of reaching 150 mbit/s download and 50 mbit/s upload speeds, and can tether its data connection.
Features include FeliCa, infrared, and OneSeg TV. The supported version of Bluetooth is 4.2.
The following radio frequencies are supported:
FDD-LTE 2100(B1)/1800(B3)/800(B19) MHz
W-CDMA 2100(I)/850(V)/800(VI/XIX) MHz
GSM 1900/1800/900/850 MHz.
It is running a heavily customised version of Android (unknown version, probably 8), with Google apps removed, including Google Play.
The Aquos Mobile SH-02L will be available in gold, black, and pink.
