Behold, the world's lightest smartphone, at 146 grams, the Aquos zero6!
The magnesium alloy inner frame, thin back panel, and thinner front glass, help the Aquos zero6 retain its leadership. Last year's Aquos zero5G was 182 grams, which was a significant increase from the 143 grams of the Aquos zero2 and the 146 grams of the first model of the series, the Aquos zero.
There is little, if any, change in the display from last year's model. But what more could you want? It has 10-bit colour processing, meaning it is capable of reproducing 1 billion colours, and HDR10/HLG. Inserting one black frame between each of the 120 frames in the OLED screen, Sharp have effectively achieved 240 refresh cycles per second, virtually eliminating any afterimage effects that may still have been observable by very keen eyes in 120 Hz models. This also leads to a dramatic improvement in touch performance – something phone gamers should find is giving them great advantage.
The fingerprint scanner is built into the display.
The 4010 mAh battery is coupled with Sharp's intelligent charge via USB Type-C (Power Delivery rev. 3.0). This should ensure about 680 hours of standby.
The cameras. The main camera uses the ProPix3 image processing technology found in Sharp's flagship phones, ToF laser autofocus, and comprises three sensors:
a 48-megapixel standard sensor, aperture size f/1.8
an 8-megapixel wide-angle 120° sensor, aperture size f/2.4
an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom, aperture size f/2.4.
The inner camera has a 12.6-megapixel sensor with f/2.3 aperture.
The Aquos zero6 is powered by a Snapdragon 750G 5G processor (2 x 2.2 GHz + 6 x 1.8 GHz) and 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The storage memory is 128 GB UFS 2.2 but microSDXC cards of up to 1 TB can be added.
As always, the 3.5 mm audio jack is present for those who wish to enjoy more than what the stereo speakers can offer.
Released running Android 11, the SHG04 received an upgrade to Android 12 on 24 March 2022.
The AU version, SGH04, is offered in black or white.
