In the end of June 2011, AU KDDI and IIDA released a wonderful new smartphone produced by Sharp, the Infobar A01.

While the hardware is the same as that of DoCoMo's SH-12C and SoftBank's 006SH, what is truly impressive is the customized user interface (UI) running on top of Android 2.3.3.

To design the phone and its UI interface, a team of artists collaborated. For a full list, click here. The device received the Good Design Award for 2011.

This smartphone has a 3.7-inch touchscreen with the unmatched resolution of 960 x 540 pixels (QHD) that no other maker can boast.

The Inforbar A01 is powered by Snapdragon S2 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz, has 512 MB of operating memory and 2 GB of built-in storage memory (1.1 GB available to the user), expandable up to 32 GB (microSDHC).

The camera has an 8 megapixel CMOS sensor with auto-focus that is capable of recording HD videos.

Connectivity is achieved in the 3G (CDMA) and GSM spectrums. The supported radio frequencies include:
3G: CDMA 1X WIN (CDMA2000 1xMC)
GSM: 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1.8 GHz, 1.9 GHz.

Further connectivity options include Wi-Fi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 3.0 and Infrared. The Infobar A01 is equipped with the Felica mobile wallet system and has One Seg digital TV.
