Announced in January 2012, the SH7218T is a revamped version of the SH7218U laucnhed in March 2011 by Sharp China.
The processor has been "beefed up" from 600 Mhz to 800 Mhz (Qualcomm MSM7627T), a figure that looks pretty inadequate in comparison with the minimum 1 GHz processors - or dual core 1-1.4 Ghz - found on contemporary models released round the world. The size of the operating memory (RAM) is 512 MB which is on par with mid range end of 2011 - early 2012 devices. The built-in storage is not any more adequate than the other specs mentioned above - a humble 512 MB, hardly compensated by the ability to use up to 32 GB microSD memory cards.
The SH7218T has, just like its predecessor, a 3.4-inch FWVGA screen with 854 x 480 px resolution but the display is resistive and not multi-touch. It has the same 8 MP CMOS camera.
Sharp China have decided to strip this Japanese-style keitai of its GSM radio and the SH7218T only comes with CDMA radio (CDMA1 x EVDO Rev. A 800 Mhz) which supports both 800 MHz and 1900 Mhz frequencies. The phone is equipped with WLAN but only the B/G types. Bluetooth is v. 2.1 + EDR and also supports DLNA connectivity.
Other standard equipment includes 3.5 mm audio jack, mini USB 2.0, built-in GPS with A-GPS support.
It comes with a larger battery capacity thatn its predecessor - 960 mAh and weighs slightly more - 142 grams.
The SH7218T now runs on Android 2.3 with version 2.0 of Sharp China's proprietary UI called Dim Sum.
