The Aquos Phone SH-06D by DoCoMo was announced on 16 February 2012 and released on 23 March. It can be seen as an upgrade to the SH-01D.
The SH-06D has a 4.5-inch, HD (1280 x 720 px) 3D-capable display, just like its predecessor, and a slightly faster processor - a Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 (2 x 1.2 GHz) instead of SH-01D's TI OMAP 4430 processor (2 x 1 GHz).
The main new feature of the SH-06D is the addition of the new Japanese standard in mobile television, NOTTV.
The SH-06D is rolling out with Android 2.3 but was later upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0). Hardware-wise, it shares, as mentioned, most of the specifications of the SH-01D:
The SH-06D measures 66 mm × 11.8 mm x 128 mm (W x D x H) and weighs slightly more than the SH-01D, 145 grams, compared to the 137 grams on its predecessor.
It is available in Magenta Red, Blue Black and White colour.
In the end of June 2012, a version of the phone was released refashioned specifically to appeal to Evangelion fans: the SH-06D NERV. Only 30,000 units were produced of this model that comes with a special UI and some apps.
