Sharp and Docomo have announced the October 2012 launch of the Aquos Phone si SH-01E and the November/December 2012 launch of the limited edition version SH-01E Vivienne Westwood (30,000 units).
The SH-01E appears to be a mid-range smartphone of the Docomo WITH series and has a 4.1 inch screen with QHD resolution (540 x 960 px) of the CG (Continuous Grain) Silicon technology. The bezel on the left and right of the screen has been specifically thinned down to make a phone which is "easy to hold with one hand" – the width is just 59 mm.
The Aquos Phone si SH-01E is equipped with a 12.1 megapixel CMOS shooter of the ProPix series with image stabilisation (still images only) that can also capture Full HD video. The device has a 0.3-megapixel internal camera.
It is water- and dust-proof. Other standard features include 1 Seg, mobile wallet, infrared, bluetooth 3.0 + EDR, wi-fi b/g/n. It supports Docomo's XI (LTE) network, besides 3G/GSM frequencies.
To ensure quality sound reproduction, the SH-01E is equipped with a Dolby Mobile v.3 5.1-channel surround sound processing engine.
USB-host functionality is also featured.
The phone has 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in memory, the processor is a 1.5GHz dual-core MSM8960.
The SH-01E runs Android 4.0 with Sharp's new user interface, Feel UX. The upgrade to 4.1 rolled out in late January 2014.
The SH-01E Vivienne Westwood is a limited edition (30,000 pieces) edition of the standard Aquos Phone si SH-01E – with a special design casing and UI.
This model features a relatively small capacity battery – 1660 mAh – which we know perfectly well is hardly capable to last a day under intensive use.
The device measures 116mm × 59mm × 9.9mm and weighs 115 grams.
