The Aquos Pad SHT21 is the SHL21's bigger and larger brother - a 7-inch display having a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution - built using Sharp's latest IGZO LCD display technology which promises to extend conventional battery life by up to 2.5 times!
A cool feature of the IGZO LCD is that it supports both touch and pen input, which is especially handy for larger screens but no less convenient on the 4.9 inch screen found on DoCoMo's SH-02E.
The Aquos Pad SHT21 measures about 106 × 190 × 8.9 mm (9.4 mm thickest part) and weighs 280 grams, which feels just about right for a 7-inch tablet. It comes with a 3,460 mAh battery.
The SHT21 is powered by the same hardware we find in it's smaller version, the SHL21: a dual-core 1.5 Ghz MSM8960 Krait processor, an Adreno 225 graphics processor, and 1 GB of RAM. The built-in memory is again 16 GB and can be extended by up tp 64 GB using microSDXC cards.
Connectivity is ensured through the 4G (LTE) network and the AU KDDI Win network. It does not have the Global Passport compatibility feature - so no CDMA / GSM / UMTS networks overseas! The phone also supports the dual-channel Wi-Fi a/b/g/n (2.4 Ghz / 5.0 Ghz) and Bluetooth 4.0 - but Infrared has been excluded.
The camera on the SHT21 is the more humble 8 megapixel with the ProPix engine but without the optical image stabilization. It can still shoot Full HD videos though. The front-facing camera is just 0.3 megapixels.
The Aquos Pad SHT21 is water-proof and dust-proof (IPX5/IPX7 and IP5X standards).
It runs Android 4.0 which should be upgradable to 4.1 some time soon.
