The Aquos Phone SH930W is Sharp's first attempt to set foot on Russian soil. And it does so very impressively... -ish. It was launched in November 2012, and then also released in Taiwan, by local carrier Commtiva.

The Aquos Phone SH930W comes with a large 5-inch display built using Sharp's cutting edge IGZO LCD tech, which promises up to 2.5 times reduction of energy consumption plus improved viewing. And it comes with the stunning 1080p (Full HD) resoltion.

This Aquos smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm 8260A (S4) chipset featuring the dual-core Krait MSM8260A processor humming at 1.5 Ghz, and an Adreno 225 graphics processor. Keen testers immediately complained that benchmark tests showed the chipset just not powerful enough to run 3D games and 1080p videos in Full HD resolution, managing just 13.6 fps but that isn't going to be a deal breaker for many. Especially since the announced price without contract for Russia is 22,000 rubles.

The amount of operating memory (RAM) is like on other newly released devices, 2 GB.

The Aquos Phone SH930W supports both GSM and 3G frequencies but no LTE support is included.

The first Russian Sharp does not have expandable storage but that should easily be compensated by the very decent offering of 32 GB onboard memory.

The back camera is an 8 (7.7) megapixel autofocus shooter and the rear one is 1.9 MP.

The device is running Android Jelly Bean (4.1).

The battery capacity is 2,100 mAh but this should be enough if the new IGZO screen and image processing technology are really that much bettery with respect to energy consumption.

The SH930W measures 72 x 139.4 x 8.9 millimetres and weighs 144 grams, battery included.
