Rakuten is Japan's first mobile operator to launch the Aquos sense4 plus (SH-M16), which Sharp announced on 11 September as part of their Winter 2020 collection. It improves upon the Aquos sense4 in a number of notable ways.

Docomo are the first Japanese carrier to announce the Aquos sense4 in their Winter 2020/2021 collection, under model name SH-41A. The phone was first announced by Sharp in early September 2020. Sales are scheduled to begin on 12 November 2020. Being a mid-range device, its price is more than attractive: just 37,224 Yen (approx 359 USD).

Some six months after SoftBank released the "basic" version of the Aquos sense3, the most stripped down of three available, AU by KDDI are also launching this model, advertised as a corporate version, codenamed SHV48 and due to reach stores after mid-June 2020.
