Rakuten is Japan's first mobile operator to launch the Aquos sense4 plus (SH-M16), which Sharp announced on 11 September as part of their Winter 2020 collection. It improves upon the Aquos sense4 in a number of notable ways.

Docomo are the first Japanese carrier to announce the Aquos sense4 in their Winter 2020/2021 collection, under model name SH-41A. The phone was first announced by Sharp in early September 2020.
