Aquos wish is a new series of smartphone Sharp launched in the Winter 2021/2022 collection. It looks like the heir of the Aquos simple device. Certainly, it's a low-end smartphone that is positioned below the mid-range Aquos sense.

The Aquos wish has been announced by AU and by SoftBank. No word for availability on Docomo yet. The SoftBank model is advertised as "corporate only". Unlike the AU version, which will be offered in four different colours, the SoftBank will only be available in charcoal.

"A durable and easy-to-use smartphone that fits with your daily life" is the advertising slogan for the Aquos wish.

– It is durable and hard to break: waterproof, dustproof, shockproof.

– Security is ensured using a fingerprint sensor located on the side.

– Like in all other Sharp smartphone, up to 2 OS upgrades over a 2-year period are guaranteed for the Aquos wish.

The Aquos wish comes with a decent camera but it is only managed using the Google Go app. This is the first Sharp phone that doesn't have a manufacturer's camera app. The sensor is 13 MP, aperture size f/2.0. It probably has electronic image stabilisation but the official site does not mention this.

The inner camera is 8 MP, f/2.0.

The Aquos wish has a 5.7-inch display with the humble 720 x 1520 (HD+) resolution. It's not an IGZO display – nothing is mentioned but if it were IGZO< Sharp would have certainly mentioned it.

The phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G processor, has 4 GB of RAM (LPDDR4X) and 64 GB of built-in storage (UFS 2.1). Storage can be expanded using SDXC cards (up to 1 TB).

The Aquos wish is capable of Hi-Res audio playback.

Mobile wallet (NFC/Felica) is supported, as well as 5 types of location methods (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS (MICHIBIKI).

Other convenient features include Pay Trigger (using the fingerprint sensor to start the payment app), Scroll auto (for reading), Clip now (quick screenshots), Gaming menu, Bright keep (the phone turns on when held; the display will be lit as long as you keep holding it), intelligent charge, etc.

The Aquos wish measures 147 x 71 x 8.9 mm and weighs 162 grams.
