Dcomo have announced the Aquos wish2, model name SH-51C, the second iteration of Sharp's low-end smartphone series. Sales are scheduled to start in the end of June or in early July 2022. We should note that Docomo did not release the Aquos wish, which was sold by SoftBank, AU, UQ Mobile, rakuten, Y!Mobile, and as a SIM-free device.
The Aquos wish2 is powered by the Snapdragon 695 5G processor, which is advertised as about 33% more powerful than the Snapdragon 480 5G on the 2021 Aquos wish. The mobile platform also offers a 19% boots in graphics performance. The phone has 4 GB of RAM (LPDDR4X) and 64 GB of built-in storage (UFS 2.1), which can be expanded using microSDXC cards of up to 1 TB capacity.
The Aquos wish2 has a 5.7-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1520 px – no difference from last year's Aquos wish. This isn't an IGZO display which is installed on mid- and high-range devices.
The device comes with a humble camera that will do for the unpretentious user: a 13-megapixel sensor with aperture size f/2.0, wide-angle 78° (26 mm equivalent).
The inner camera is 8 MP, again with an aperture size of f/2.0, wide-angle 77° (26 mm equivalent).
These are exactly the same cameras as found on last year's Aquos wish.
Docmo's Aquos wish2 SH-51C offers the sensor-based functionality called Suguden/Suguap, which allows users to perform basic operations without having to tap the screen. For example, to make a call, you just need to shake the phone and hold it to your ear; to answer a call, hold the phone to your ear; to end a call, place the phone face-down on a flat surface; and to reject an incoming call and mute the ringer, place the phone face-down on a flat surface. This functionality is only available on Docomo models.
The SH-51C supports the following radio communication frequencies:
5G: n28 / n77 / n78 / n79
LTE: B1 / B2 / B3 / B5 / B7 / B8 / B12 / B17 / B18 / B19 / B39
3G: B1 / B5
GSM: 850/900 / 1,800 / 1,900 MHz
Bluetooth version: 5.1, tethering for up to 15 devices, Osaifu-Keitai (Felica/NFC), Geolocation (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS (MICHIBIKI)).
The Aquos wish2 is water-resistant (IPX5–IPX7), dust-resistant (IP6X), and MIL-STD-810H compliant.
